Boshin War

by Donell Hawks

In 1868 to 1869 was when Japans civil war took place. It was called the Boshin War (戊辰戦争). The war found its origins in dissatisfaction among many nobles and young samurai with the shogunate's handling of foreigners following the opening of Japan during the prior decade. This is when Kuro Samurai appeared. As you can see he's sitting right in the middle. Look at his resemblance does he look like someone? (hehe) An alliance of southern samurai, particularly the domains of Chōshū and Satsuma, and court officials secured control of the imperial court and influenced the young Emperor Meiji. Tokugawa Yoshinobu, the sitting shogun, realizing the futility of his situation, abdicated political power to the emperor. (hehee.. I have a time machine!)
