St Ignatius

by Aaron Pritchard

This was taken with a Nikon D70. In PS CS2 I got rid of the sky as it was washed out and pale, I replaced it with a different sky (I have a folder full of skies)and did a bit of level adjustment.  I then used the lighting Effects filter to concentrate the lighting in one area. I then used Flaming Pear's Melancholytron filter to blend all the tones together. The Twist filter was used next to give the outer edges that gyrating effect (feathered at 200). I then overlaid a rusty wall to give the clouds that gritty look.

I love dark moody images and this has a sinister and haunting quality, this is the type of image I endeavour to create. Can you tell me if you capture the images yourself or do you rely on stock images?
