I used a radial blur with a layer mask on the original image. After that, it was a case of stacking up the adjustment layers, and adding a lens flare and a vignette after dodging and burning. The emphasis on this piece was on the sunlight and shadows which help to make the composited pictures blend together. I added a rock to the sea image,and made the girl the subject, changing her hair colour to make her more mermaid like. I did some HDR toning on the overall image, and used the flowers to add colour and texture. Adjustment layers pull it all together. Stock images were blended and warped together with layer masks and filters to produce this effect. I made full use of blend modes in this image. I played about with inverting colours and used the Find Edges filter on the background to give it a night time feel. A Colour Lookup adjustment pulled all the colours together at the end. I used layer masks to change the sky and make it more dramatic. I then added the birds in with Perspective Warp, and brought the image together with filters and adjustment layers. I used adjustment layers, filters and brushes to create the feel of a rainstorm in another galaxy. Based on a past tutorial, I've used filters, masks and adjustment layers to turn an ordinary photo into an interesting portrait. A combination of stock images, a blurry photo of a cat, filters, digital painting, custom brushes and lots of adjustment layers! I used colour to create a surreal landscape, as I wanted the image to raise more questions than it answered - who is the girl and is she really the subject of the piece? Light, shade and depth of field were used to focus on the trees. Lots and lots of textures and blending modes used here, to create a bit of an oil painting effect. This was adapted from a tutorial in issue 133. The subject is my son during a cyclo-cross race, and I wanted to produce atmosphere and imagery to show how hard the sport really is. This image uses lots of photoshop features including blend modes, adjustment layers, masks, filters and brushes. The whole composition is brought together with a Color Lookup adjustment layer at a low opacity. A beauty edit with a twist! I took a standard portrait shot, and started by doing an ordinary retouch. I then added the makeup digitally, using lots of different blend modes and the 'blend if' dialogue. I used the Polar Coordinates filter on the Fireworks image, and added the balloons with a Difference blend mode.I then adjusted the colours with Hue/Saturation and Levels adjustment layers. A panoramic image of flowers was used with the polar coordinates filter to give the planet effect. 2 images composited together using different blending modes and layer masks to make an atmospheric portrait. Desaturation and inversion were used to turn the cat into a sketch to match the teacup. Adjustment layers pulled the whole image together. My take on the 'Create a Scene in a Bauble' tutorial in Issue 134, but using my mum's cat for the subject! Poor decorator - he's come to paint the walls, only to find that they're already decorated with artwork! I used various filters to turn the images into different forms of artwork, and had fun playing with perspective and light when placing them.
