This photograph was taken in Barcelona. I cropped it, converted it to black and white and played around with the dodge and burn tools to ensure the shadows and highlights were satisfactory. A photo of two young sweethearts in Havana, Cuba. This is a tutorial we are featuring in the up and coming Issue 30, on sale in the UK on 20th Dec. Not quite finished and a bit rough round the edges, but hopefully it gives you a taster of what's in store next issue. The tutorial is written by Lora Sykes and is a great beginners guide to Blending modes. I've been playing with the new Photoshop Express Beta, seeing what it can do. The effects are basic but pretty fun to experiment with. This is a picture I took last year at a festival called Windfest at Sandbanks, Poole. Check it out at www.photoshop.com/express A Cuban carnival dancer - There was a crowd of people in the background of this shot which have been removed. Levels and curves have been tweaked to give the colours more punch, although I still need to work on the skin tone.
